As a member of the committee, you will have the opportunity to put your professional experience as a musician or music-industry professional to use in some of Jazz Danmark’s central artistic selection processes. Together with the other committee members, you will contribute your knowledge and expertise to Jazz Danmark and our work to strengthen and develop Danish jazz.

We are looking for members with diverse experiences, perspectives and artistic approaches – including people who have not previously served on a Jazz Danmark committee.

From multiple rotating committees to a more coherent structure

Jazz Danmark has traditionally worked with rotating committees and academies. This has ensured a strong connection to the Danish jazz scene, but it has also made it difficult to consolidate the experience and knowledge of individual committee members and bring it into play across the organisation’s work.

With the new overarching committee, we aim to create greater continuity in our artistic committee work. Members will both take on specific artistic selection tasks and bring their own experiences as musicians and professional members of the jazz community into an ongoing dialogue with Jazz Danmark.

The primary task of the Artistic Committee will be to participate in Jazz Danmark’s various selection panels, where members will, among other things, review applications and make decisions concerning grants, funding and awards. This includes the Jazz Fund and International Transport Support. Committee members will also take part in the work of the DMA Jazz Academy. All committees may be supplemented on an ongoing basis by external and international members.

In addition, committee members will be in dialogue with Jazz Danmark’s secretariat and, based on the knowledge gathered through their committee work and their broader professional activities, contribute perspectives that can inform Jazz Danmark’s work.

A committee that reflects the diversity of the jazz community

The new committee will consist of five professional performing musicians and two representatives from the wider music community. The committee members will be appointed by Jazz Danmark’s board following this open application process, in which anyone interested can apply for a position. We encourage musicians with diverse artistic practices, career paths and experiences to apply.

When selecting the final committee, the board will place particular emphasis on:

• professional expertise and experience
• insight into different parts of the jazz community
• geographical, demographic and artistic diversity

Applicants must include recommendations from 3–5 people as part of their application. More information is available in the application form.

Jazz Danmark operates according to a principle that no single group or profile should make up more than 70% of a committee, for example in terms of age, gender, geography, or artistic or genre background.

This principle will also apply to the composition of the Artistic Committee.

Working conditions and remuneration

The Artistic Committee will be appointed for two-year terms. The new committee will therefore work from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028.

The work will be carried out according to established guidelines concerning, among other things, conflicts of interest and confidentiality.

Committee members will receive an annual fee of DKK 22,000 per member, paid as B-income. The fee covers participation in and preparation for up to five committee meetings, as well as ongoing dialogue with Jazz Danmark’s secretariat.

Any additional tasks may be remunerated separately.

Travel expenses related to meetings can be reimbursed by agreement.
