Danish Music Awards Jazz 2025 celebrates the best Danish jazz releases from the past year. To ensure that all Danish jazz releases are considered, we encourage all musicians and publishers to submit their releases.

All submitted releases must meet the following criteria:

• The bandleader or the majority of the participants on the album must be Danish, meaning either born in Denmark or permanently residing there.
• The release must have been published between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

Submit your release for Single of the Year

Single of the Year celebrates outstanding individual tracks. The track may be part of an album, but it must also have been released as a single. Each artist may submit only one track for Single of the Year.

Submit your release today – and don’t forget to spread the word so we can include all the year’s strongest jazz releases. Even if you have previously submitted your music physically or digitally to JazzDanmark, you must still submit it through the official DMA Jazz system.

Main categories – all releases are considered:

• Jazz Release of the Year (8 nominees)
• Jazz Composer of the Year (8 nominees)
• Musician of the Year (8 nominees)

Special categories – specific criteria apply:

• New Jazz Artist of the Year (5 nominees) – Awarded only for debut releases.
• Single of the Year (5 nominees) – Can be either a standalone single or a specially selected track from a release.
• Alternative Jazz Release of the Year (5 nominees) – Celebrates music that stands out from the crowd.

Winners will receive the iconic DMA Bird statuette, with all awards presented at the annual DMA Jazz show, hosted by JazzDanmark. Nominees and winners in both main and special categories are selected by a rotating 9-member academy.
