DMA Jazz: The nominees for P8 Prize – Enthusiast of the Year are here

Three passionate figures from different corners of the country are nominated for the P8 Prize – Passionate Person of the Year

Danish Music Awards Jazz 2025 celebrates the year’s best releases, but also honours the musicians on stage and everyone behind and around it. We can now reveal the nominees for the P8 Prize – Passionate Person of the Year.

This special award reflects the same breadth and diversity as the rest of the nominations. The nominated passionate figures each represent outstanding experiences and impressive community-building in three different regions of the country.

P8 Prize – Passionate Person of the Year

The P8 Prize is awarded to a passionate individual who has helped strengthen jazz locally or nationally. A dedicated contributor who deserves recognition, applause, encouragement, and extra attention from the Danish jazz community.

P8 listeners submitted their suggestions, after which the editorial team selected the following three nominees:

Martin Schack

“Martin Schack is nominated for the P8 Prize for his many years of work making jazz accessible to everyone in Ribe and the surrounding area. He has tirelessly worked on the Ribe Jazz Festival, established an active jazz venue in the historic centre of the city, and created an inviting space for local talents. Under Martin’s wing, young musicians have the opportunity not only to perform but also to learn how to run a record label.”

Charlotte Bertelsen

“Charlotte Bertelsen is nominated for her work in shaping a diverse artistic profile for the venue Bartof Station in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. She demonstrates curiosity and contributes with an inviting atmosphere and presence that greatly influences jazz discovery among the city’s residents. Through her dedication, she helps maintain a high artistic standard.”

Marie Norman Nyeng & Gorm Askjær

“Marie Norman Nyeng and Gorm Askjær are nominated as a duo for their work in continuing the annual, tradition-rich jazz festival in Aarhus. They succeed in finding new, sometimes unconventional methods to continuously develop a festival built on history and long-standing traditions. They guarantee a wide-ranging diversity and artistic integrity – a generational shift that respects both the past and the future.”
