Three Danish Jazz Acts Selected for VEGA’s Immersive Sound Stage This Fall
Following an open call facilitated by JazzDanmark, VEGA’s bookers have selected three Danish jazz acts to perform this fall on the venue’s cutting-edge immersive sound system. The selected bands are Marcela Lucatelli Necromancy, Lueenas, and Lis Wessberg: Yellow Map.
A Next-Generation Sound System with 360-Degree Sensation
IDEAL Bar at VEGA in Copenhagen is equipped with 18 speakers designed to create immersive sound experiences alongside live music. It is the first club stage in Denmark to implement an immersive audio system, where the music is mixed for a 360-degree effect, enveloping the audience in a way that surpasses the traditional stereo experience.
Lis Wessberg: Yellow Map
Yellow Map, led by Lis Wessberg, features top-tier Danish jazz musicians handpicked for their artistry. All compositions are Wessberg’s own, crafted specifically for this ensemble. Yellow Map creates a distinctive fusion of acoustic instruments and electronic soundscapes, unfolding in a unique space where light and dark, intimacy, joy, and reflection intertwine.
The concert with Lis Wessberg: Yellow Map is scheduled for September 4, 2024.
Marcela Lucatelli Necromancy
The DMA-award-winning vocal trio Necromancy brings together composers and musicians Lars Bech Pilgaard, Anders Vestergaard, and Marcela Lucatelli in a bold collaboration. Using drums, guitar, effects, and extreme vocals, they create a sonic journey that bridges Western and Afro-Brazilian perspectives on death, delivering a groovy rollercoaster of noise, gothic, and horror.
The concert with Marcela Lucatelli Necromancy is set for October 2, 2024.
Lueenas
The experimental string duo Lueenas, featuring Ida Duelund and Maria Jagd, uses violin, double bass, and amplifiers to create powerful, wordless narratives. Their cinematic, noise-infused compositions draw from both classical minimalism and expansive, improvisational rock, expressing a deep love for improvisation and the present moment. Lueenas offers a free, intuitive, and uncompromising musical experience, untethered by style or genre.
The concert with Lueenas is scheduled for November 11, 2024.
Jazz at VEGA!
Since 2023, JazzDanmark and VEGA have collaborated closely to strengthen jazz connections across Denmark. In 2023, they co-hosted DMA Jazz at Store VEGA, where 850 attendees celebrated award presentations and the heartbeat of Danish jazz. Leading up to the show, more than 100 industry professionals attended the Jazz+ day at Lille VEGA, participating in a program of debates, talks, and networking for the Danish jazz community.
Beyond DMA Jazz, VEGA’s Development Manager, Lene Vive Christiansen, and JazzDanmark’s Communications and Deputy Director, Agnete Seerup, are collaborating in the Music Life Partnership for Sustainable Development. As active members of the steering committee, they are committed to advancing a sustainable future in Danish music.
