Here is the lineup for jazzahead! Clubnight 2023
Jazz professionals from around the world will gather at jazzahead! in Germany at the end of April.
Not long until jazz professionals from around the world meet at the major trade fair, jazzahead!, taking place in Germany at the end of April. JazzDanmark is excited to host the Danish Clubnight on Friday, April 28, which will once again be held at the intimate venue Lila Eule in Bremen. Here’s who more than 200 industry professionals from around the world can look forward to experiencing in Bremen:
Lis Wessberg
Lis Wessberg is one of Denmark’s leading trombonists, known for her beautiful tone and unique expression on the instrument. For Wessberg, a good melody and a rich sound are the two most important elements in both her performances and compositions. Her trombone playing sounds like a vocal, filled with warmth and emotion. Her compositions are soulful and thought-provoking, with a dreamlike quality.
Marie Mørck Quartet
Marie Mørck’s music is born from a love for diverse vocalists like Joni Mitchell, Björk, and Ella Fitzgerald, resulting in a unique and modern sound. Not only is she a talented singer, but also a skilled songwriter and composer. With a blend of pure, Nordic sound and contemporary jazz, her voice resonates universally and moves listeners, no matter their personal preferences or musical genres.
Abekejser
The sound of the Danish quartet Abekejser is a mix of genres: heavy hip-hop beats meet synth sounds, reverb-soaked rock guitars, and a rich bass. The result is a festive cocktail of Jazztronica and Neo-Soul, with catchy melodies and hooks that reveal their complex structures only after several listens.
DJ of the evening: Mokomizik
Originally from the UK but now based in Copenhagen, Mokomizik is behind a series of hi-fi events in Copenhagen. As avid record diggers, they’ve amassed an impressive collection of music from around the world. Whether it’s obscure disco, funk, jazz, Latin, ’90s soca, or house, their carefully curated and unique approach to their sets is a magical recipe for igniting any dancefloor.

Danish jazz at Bremen’s oldest jazz club
The venue Lila Eule once again provides the setting for JazzDanmark’s Clubnight this year. Last year, over 250 guests attended the event, with most being industry professionals from both Denmark and abroad. This year, there will be more space for interested attendees as the concerts will be held for a standing audience for the first time. The Danish Clubnight will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023, with concerts starting at 8:00 PM and concluding with a DJ set by Mokomizik until 2:00 AM.
Lila Eule has been a meeting place for Bremen’s youth since 1959. Back then, it hosted the rebellious jazz music of the time, but today it serves as a venue with ties to all corners of music. This makes it the perfect setting for the diverse range of Danish jazz that will be presented at JazzDanmark’s Clubnight.
