2020 was a challenging year for the Danish music industry, but despite numerous obstacles, jazz showed its most adaptable and resilient side. JazzDanmark now presents its annual report for 2020, which you can find here.
A Year of Many Activities Despite COVID-19
In the annual report, you can explore several projects that were carried out during the year, including DMA Jazz, the Summer Jazz Camp Jazzdalen, and Summer Session, as well as new projects that arose from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as Baggårdsjazz, Unlock Music, and the Streaming Service. Despite the global pandemic, the activity level remained high, and JazzDanmark once again achieved record-high funding for projects, primarily through private foundations.
Danish Jazz in Numbers and Stories
Denmark is a jazz country, and jazz can be found in all parts of the country. Whether it’s a local jazz club, a high school big band, or a musician on their way to international stages, jazz is present in all layers and in the genre’s full diversity. JazzDanmark’s annual report is a tool that provides interested parties with insight into the diverse Danish jazz scene. In this edition of the annual report, we can, among other things, present a survey that focuses on jazz musicians and their work.
