Introduction

The purpose of the funding scheme is to provide support for international transport expenses from Denmark to abroad, from abroad to Denmark, as well as between countries and regions abroad, provided that the distances are long.

International Transport Funding

International Transport Funding is a travel subsidy scheme for Danish participants undertaking projects of an international nature. Danish participants are defined as individuals or entities residing in Denmark and/or those whose activities are significantly based in Denmark. However, only individuals or institutions with a NemKonto can apply. Jazz Danmark provides financial support within the genre of jazz and related genres.

Guidelines

How to Apply

  • Follow the instructions on the application portal (GrantOne) for logging in and submitting your application. If this is your first time applying, you must create a profile either with your MitID or by selecting a username and password.
  • An application must be submitted before the start of the project/tour. This means that the project may have already begun before the application deadline, as long as the application is submitted before the project starts.
  • For all application deadlines, the application must be submitted before 11:59 PM.
  • You can expect a written response no later than 4 weeks after the application deadline. Information about the outcome of an application will only be provided in writing, not by phone.

The following criteria are used to assess applications:

  • The application must be submitted before the start of the project/tour.
  • Opportunities for development, either for the applicant or for the Danish music scene.
  • Artistic quality.
  • Tour activities are prioritized over single concerts.
  • Emphasis is placed on a reasonable budget with a realistic balance between income and expenses. Fees for tour activities abroad are expected to be no lower than the fees paid to local musicians for similar concerts.

Handling of applications

Committee and funding framework

Applications are processed by a committee appointed by JazzDanmark, which is selected for a two-year term. The current committee consists of Luboš Soukup, Randi Pontoppidan, Birgitte Soojin, and Thomas Fonnesbæk.

The funding framework for 2024 is DKK 1,013,468. Additionally, an extraordinary grant of DKK 158,250 was awarded by the Danish Arts Foundation’s Project Support Committee for Music in July 2024.

  • For the first deadline (February 15, 2024), we received 114 applications. A total of DKK 1,139,925 was requested, and the committee awarded grants totaling DKK 285,467.
  • For the second deadline (May 15, 2024), we received 117 applications. A total of DKK 1,020,815 was requested, and the committee awarded grants totaling DKK 298,450.
  • For the third deadline (August 16, 2024), we received 89 applications. A total of DKK 948,996 was requested, and the committee awarded grants totaling DKK 285,980.

The genre organizations’ grant activities on behalf of the Danish Arts Foundation’s Project Support Committee for Music are focused on providing subsidies for international transport that promotes the music scene in Denmark and Danish music abroad.

The grant activities are managed uniformly through a common grant system, which makes it easier to understand the genre organizations’ priorities and their achievement of goals.
