Jazz Danmark and P8 Jazz invite you to a label network meeting

Do you publish jazz? So come along when JazzDanmark in collaboration with P8 Jazz invites you to a network meeting. It takes place on 26 May in Copenhagen

At the beginning of 2021, Jazz Danmark founded a label network, which has so far held two well-attended meetings. The network was created on the basis of a growing group of large and small labels that publish jazz and related music in Denmark, and aims to strengthen cooperation and knowledge sharing across music. We now invite you to the third meeting in the network, which this time is with P8 Jazz as co-host, as they want closer sparring with the Danish labels.

DR is an important platform for the spread of Danish jazz, and DR’s jazz channel P8 Jazz wants to strengthen communication with the Danish labels so that P8 Jazz and the record companies jointly support the music as best as possible. At the meeting, P8 Jazz’s music planner and editors will talk about the work of the music committee, about the individual programs and about how best and most efficiently to send music to the channel. In this way, P8 hopes to create a common workflow which ensures that the music has the best chance of being heard.

After the meeting, there will be time to network across labels and with employees from both P8 and Jazz Danmark’s secretariat.

Practical info

Label network meeting with P8 Jazz
Time: Wednesday, 26 May 2021, at 14-16
Place: Forsamlingshuset, Onkel Dannys Plads 5. 1700 Copenhagen V

This time the meeting will be in person. If you are unable to come to Copenhagen, it will be possible to participate digitally. JazzDanmark covers transport costs for participants outside the capital area.

Current corona restrictions will be taken into account and therefore there are also only a limited number of places.

So far, the network is targeting labels with a minimum of 3 releases annually. A minute/compilation will be made which can be requested by other interested parties afterwards.

If you were not at the first meetings, but want to participate in future meetings, send an email to camilla@jazzdanmark.dk with your name and which label or publisher you represent.

Background for the label network meetings
More and more Danish jazz labels are appearing and the number of jazz releases remains stable and high with almost 150 releases annually. Denmark is a jazz country, and the releases help to keep the entire ecosystem going, as in addition to direct earnings, they also form a foundation for Danish musicians’ live activities all over the world.
