Jazzdalen is a week-long youth jazz gathering featuring ensemble playing, improvisation, jam sessions, instrument exploration, exciting workshops with fantastic instructors—and plenty of fun! Are you under 18 and passionate about music? Then Jazzdalen is for you. Registration is open now and will be accepted until April 30th, 2024.

The event will take place from July 21st to 27th at Klejtrup Musikefterskole, where up to 70 young musicians from all over the country will spend a week immersed in music and community.

Jazz for young people since Summer 2017

Since the summer of 2017, Klejtrup Musikefterskole near Hobro has hosted the annual jazz gathering Jazzdalen. A team of instructors from Denmark’s jazz scene lead their respective groups toward a final concert on the event’s last evening. Throughout the week, in addition to rehearsals in the different ensemble groups, there are also many exciting activities, such as jam sessions, instructor concerts, lectures from the instructors, workshops in instrument groups, and much more. Jazzdalen aims to promote diversity in the music scene and encourages individuals of all genders to participate. The instructor team is composed of an equal number of women and men, all with extensive experience in teaching jazz.

The Summer Gathering Jazzdalen is organized in collaboration with Klejtrup Music Boarding School and is supported by the Danish Arts Council, Spar Nord Fonden, Ole Kirk’s Fond, Toyota-Fonden, Knud Højgaards Fond and Den A.P. Møllerske Støttefond.
