This year, Sommerstævnet Jazzdalen celebrates its 10th anniversary. The camp offers a week-long musical summer camp for young people from 26 July to 1 August.

Registration is now open and runs until 1 May. The camp takes place at Klejtrup Musikefterskole near Hobro and is aimed at young musicians under 18 who want a week filled with music, learning, and community.

Plenty of music, ensemble playing, and practice with experienced instructors

The week includes daily rehearsal sessions with ensemble groups led by experienced jazz instructors, exciting workshops in instrument groups, inspiring talks, instructor concerts, and plenty of cozy jam sessions. The camp concludes with a concert where each group performs what they have worked on during the week.

New friendships and an introduction to the jazz tradition

The headline for the summer camp is diligence, skills, and community. The focus is therefore not only on instrumental abilities, but equally on getting acquainted with the traditions of jazz—and, of course, on getting to know the other participants.

The setting of the camp is designed for both immersion and social interaction, ensuring that participants have an experience they will never forget.

Focus on young people and gender balance

Since 2017, Jazzdalen has been the youth counterpart to Denmark’s long-standing jazz camps from Brandbjerg, Engelsholmstævnet, and to Summer Session. In addition to being for musicians under 18, Jazzdalen also promotes diversity in the music scene with a 50/50 gender balance among both participants and instructors.

Price: DKK 2,200 per participant, including meals and accommodation.
