Jazzkonkurrencen 2025: The lineup is here

This year’s selected bands are Veronika Rud Kvartet, Sandløber, and Zinssou Quartet. Look forward to experiencing new sounds from the young jazz scene!

The three young orchestras Veronika Rud Kvartet, Sandløber, and Zinssou Quartet are ready to perform at four of Denmark’s renowned venues as part of Jazzkonkurrencen 2025.

The concert series kicks off on February 14 at 8 PM at Huset in Hasserisgade, Aalborg.

A glimpse into the future of jazz

As always, audiences can look forward to exploring Denmark’s young jazz scene. Each of the three orchestras will showcase jazz’s depth, intensity, and innovative energy. Performances will take place in Aalborg, Kolding, Odense, and Copenhagen.

The winner gets to record an EP

The participating bands will also engage in a career development program. For the first time, the final will be held at Godset in Kolding, where the winner will have the opportunity to record an EP, including mixing, at The Hideout Studio in Aalborg.

Tickets for the Alice concert will be available soon. The other concerts have free entry.

About the performers

Veronika Rud Kvartet

Veronika Rud, a singer and composer from Aarhus, has crafted a richly atmospheric musical universe with her debut EP “Mens Jeg Venter”, which has garnered attention on P8 Jazz. Inspired by Nordic tones, soul, and Americana, her quartet merges tradition and innovation through playful rhythms and improvisation. The result is an intimate sound that balances honesty with musical curiosity.

Sandløber

Sandløber invites listeners on a journey through majestic soundscapes, where Nordic jazz and the tones of the Danish folk song tradition merge into a shared language. The band’s original instrumental music weaves heartfelt harmonies and stories filled with warmth and intensity. It’s an experience that forges a deep connection between music and listener.

Zinssou Quartet

Zinssou Quartet is not afraid to challenge the boundaries of modern jazz. With piano and cello at the forefront, the quartet blends elements of chamber music, Nordic sounds, and modern expressive New York jazz. Their debut EP “Et ungdomstestamente” is a tribute to naivety, joy of life, and all that fills the heart when you’re young. The band’s intuitive and exploratory approach to music seeks an honest and vibrant expression that resonates with both body and soul.

Winners receive studio time and mixing at The Hideout Studio

The winner of Jazzkonkurrencen 2025 will have the unique opportunity to record an EP with professional mixing and mastering at The Hideout Studio.
