JazzDanmark is now launching five new jazz networks, which will form the cornerstone of a new 3-year project. The goal is to strengthen project makers and concert organizers across the country in creating ambitious, innovative jazz experiences — for the benefit of both audiences and musicians throughout Denmark. Jazz’s many local stakeholders will shape the activities and be the core of the project, which is primarily funded by the Augustinus Foundation and will run for three years. The total budget is 1 million DKK.
A strong network makes it easier to turn visions into reality
Knowledge-sharing and networking are crucial for delivering high-quality music experiences, and we have recently witnessed a major revival of the jazz scene in all corners of Denmark. Therefore, JazzDanmark wants to build jazz networks in five locations across Denmark, which, through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, skill development, strong partnerships, and financial support, can further develop the jazz scene.
Would you like to join our new network?
Sign up and help determine how the network should evolve so that we can strengthen jazz both locally and nationally. JazzDanmark is initially gathering interested stakeholders for a workshop on challenges, solutions, ideas, and opportunities.
We will provide dinner and drinks during the event, and you are welcome to stay afterward for a beer, soda, or coffee.

The networks will help us understand the Danish jazz landscape
The four jazz networks will play a central role in JazzDanmark’s new data and documentation initiative, which includes mapping the Danish jazz landscape. Each network will map local music environments, and the networks will also contribute to developing and spreading JazzDanmark’s knowledge, projects, and expertise.
Collaborations should lead to major musical experiences
Denmark is a jazz country, and jazz exists in all parts of the country, from well-established jazz clubs, festivals, and traditional big bands to underground scenes, jam sessions for upcoming musicians, and unorganized events. When the network between these actors is strengthened, we hope that project makers and concert organizers will find it easier to launch larger projects together, book big international and Danish artists to perform in multiple locations across the country, share equipment costs, and leverage each other’s skills. JazzDanmark aims for concert organizers and project creators to become even stronger through collaboration, enabling them to launch innovative, high-quality projects and concert experiences with both renowned and upcoming international and Danish jazz artists — for the benefit of the entire music scene and audiences throughout Denmark.
