Join an inspiration trip focusing on traditional jazz
Brøndby Jazzklub, New Orleans Jazz Sønderborg and Jazz Danmarks jazznetværk invite you to an inspiration trip to Sønderborg on 26–27 September.
Jazznetværket is Jazz Danmark’s network for jazz clubs and concert organisers. The network meets regularly, and this time we are inviting members on an inspiration trip to Southern Jutland.
The trip will take us to one of Denmark’s newer jazz clubs, New Orleans Jazz Sønderborg, which celebrates its seventh anniversary this year. In a short period of time, the club has built a strong foundation for traditional jazz, with significant membership growth and a well-functioning financial model.
There will also be a presentation by Brøndby Jazzklub, which has likewise established a successful club and a strong community around traditional jazz. At the same time, the club works with partnerships and concert formats that reach beyond the genre and help ensure broader support for the association’s activities within the local community.
The main programme takes place on Saturday 26 September. On the following day, participants will have the option of staying on for a concert.
Who is the inspiration trip for?
The trip is aimed particularly at concert organisers and jazz clubs working with traditional jazz. Between and after the presentations, there will be opportunities to exchange experiences with like-minded colleagues and take home inspiration and ideas for developing your own jazz club.
To ensure that as many different jazz clubs as possible can participate, there is room for one person from each jazz club or concert association.
Limited places and registration deadline
Please note: There are a limited number of places (up to 30 participants), allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The purpose of Jazz Danmarks jazznetværk is to strengthen project makers and concert organisers across Denmark in creating ambitious and innovative jazz experiences for audiences throughout the country.

13:15 Welcome by Gerner Petersen (New Orleans Jazz Sønderborg), Kim Christiansen (Brøndby Jazzklub) and Lukas Bysted (Jazz Danmark), followed by introductions
14:00 Presentation by Gerner Petersen from New Orleans Jazz Sønderborg: Nearly 400 members in seven years: What has made traditional jazz flourish in Sønderborg?

16:00 Presentation by Kim Christiansen from Brøndby Jazzklub: How do you communicate the value of traditional jazz to politicians, foundations and other partners?
