Mathias Heise joins the board of Jazz Danmark
We are pleased to announce that musician and composer Mathias Heise will join the board of Jazz Danmark as of October 1, 2025.
Artistic freedom, quality, diversity, and an international perspective
Mathias Heise (b. 1993) is a harmonica player and composer with extensive experience as bandleader, sideman, and collaborator in a wide range of ensembles and projects. He has released seven albums under his own name — most recently Mouth Games.
At Jazz Danmark, we look forward to seeing Mathias bring his knowledge and experience from a rich life as a musician into the work of the board. Speaking about his vision for the role, Mathias says:
“I am driven by a desire to give back to the jazz community that has shaped me, and with my experience I hope to help ensure that Danish jazz has the best possible conditions for growth and artistic expression. In my work on the board, I want to contribute an international perspective, strengthen quality, and create platforms where new generations can meet and reach wider audiences. My dream is for Denmark to become an even stronger center for jazz — a place where diversity and artistic freedom thrive, while Danish jazz asserts itself as an innovative voice internationally.”
A big thank you to Jakob Dinesen for years of dedication
With Mathias Heise joining the board, we also bid farewell to Jakob Dinesen as a board member. Jazz Danmark would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Jakob Dinesen, who has served on the board since 2020.
The current board has elected the new member following the most recent open call.
