Three New Members Appointed to the Board of JazzDanmark

JazzDanmark is pleased to welcome Lennart Ginman, Casper Tornhøj Schärfe, and Camilla Laudrup as new board members, effective January 1, 2024.

JazzDanmark is pleased to welcome Lennart Ginman, Casper Tornhøj Schärfe, and Camilla Laudrup as new board members, effective January 1, 2024. The appointments follow an open call issued in November, which attracted over 40 applications. The current board has selected the new members.

A wide range of skills and experience

JazzDanmark is thrilled that so many have shown interest in the organization and are eager to contribute to the significant work of strengthening Danish jazz both nationally and internationally. Choosing the new members from among the many relevant applications was a difficult task. The board is confident that the three new candidates possess skills that will be highly valuable in the coming years, including experience from the music industry, the organizing side, and cultural and civil society organizations. Here are the three candidates, each appointed for a four-year term:

  • Lennart Ginman (b. 1960) is a musician and composer with a long list of influential projects and musical collaborations, including participation in over 160 albums. Lennart has also worked for five years as the music director for Denmark’s only genre-specific regional jazz venue, Copenhagen Jazzhouse (2008-2013), and served as the event manager for JazzDanmark’s Summer Session when the event was held at Vallekilde Højskole.
  • Camilla Laudrup (b. 1975) has 20 years of experience in strategic development and leadership within cultural institutions and civil society organizations, including as the director of the Folkemødet festival in Bornholm, as editor and head of secretariat at DR, and in leadership roles in international organizations. Camilla is currently an independent consultant, specializing in concept and business development for cultural institutions. She holds a degree in political science (cand.scient.pol.). Camilla is also a singer in the show choir ‘Læderhalsene’, which has served as the regular ensemble for the satirical group ‘Selvsving’.
  • Casper Tornhøj Schärfe (b. 1983) works as deputy director, theater producer, and fundraiser at Teater Momentum, and is the daily manager and music director at Momentum Musik. He is the founder and organizer of the Jaiyede Jazz Festival and ILTER – Odense Punk & Hardcore Festival. Additionally, Casper has worked in management for a wide range of bands and holds a degree in information science and cultural communication (cand. scient. bibl.).

Three members replaced

Everyone in both the board and the secretariat looks forward to what the future will bring with the new board members and is excited that they are all eager to contribute to the organization. This summer, the organization said a sad goodbye to board chair Maj-Britt Kramer, who passed away after a brief illness. Additionally, we thank Christian Sveigaard, Marketing Director at Carlsberg, and musician and composer Signe Høirup Wille-Jørgensen for their contributions to the board after five and two years of service, respectively. As a result, there is now room to invite three new members, rather than the two previously announced.

JazzDanmark extends a heartfelt thank you to the outgoing members for their dedicated work and great commitment to jazz.
