New catalogue gathers knowledge and inspiration for gender balance work in the music industry
Today, the genre organizations Art Music Denmark, Jazz Danmark, ROSA, and TEMPI are publishing a new Inspirational Catalogue for Better Gender Balance in the Music Industry.
In recent years, the Danish music scene has been marked by an unprecedented focus on gender balance and diversity. A number of major studies have, in various ways, shed light on the structures that shape Danish musical life. Together, they have created a new foundation of knowledge that gives us better opportunities than ever before to take action.
Building on this momentum, the genre organizations are now launching an inspirational catalogue that gathers insights, experiences, and recommendations from recent years of work—demonstrating how targeted initiatives have already led to real change. The catalogue presents knowledge, recommendations, and concrete examples of how different actors in the Danish music scene are working to promote greater equality and diversity.
In the catalogue, you’ll find:
-
A heatmap with over 250 measurements of female representation across different areas of the music scene.
-
Five case studies from organizations that have achieved significant improvements in gender balance through targeted initiatives.
-
A comprehensive overview of recommendations from the major reports published over the past three years.
-
A mapping of more than 60 practical initiatives that, in various ways, are working toward a more equal and inclusive music community.
With this catalogue, we aim to provide the most comprehensive overview to date of the work being done on gender balance in Danish music—and a foundation for the next steps forward. Because while progress has been made, the data clearly show that there is still a long way to go before we reach a more balanced music scene.
