Artist talks with jazz icons in November
Jazz Danmarks Summer Session invites you to artist talks at Bremen Teater with Joe Lovano, Midori Takada, Wadada Leo Smith, and more in connection with Loveland Music Festival.
Gain insight into the artistic universe of jazz – live at Kolme
On November 11 and 12, you can meet some of jazz’s most visionary voices in conversation about their work and creative journeys, as JazzDanmark’s Summer Session and Loveland Music Festival present a series of exclusive artist talks at bar Kolme, leading up to Loveland Music Festival at Bremen Teater.
Meet Joe Lovano + Thomas Morgan + Joey Baron
Join an open and engaging conversation between jazz musicians Joe Lovano, Thomas Morgan, and Joey Baron. Experience the legendary tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano up close as he reflects on his career and collaborations with artists such as Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, and Marilyn Crispell. Thomas Morgan and Joey Baron both appeared on the album Once Around The Room, and Morgan has just released his debut solo album, Around You Is A Forest.
Please note: The session begins with an acoustic live set, so doors will be temporarily closed between 15.30 and 16.00.
The event takes place at Kolme on den 11. November 15.30–17.30.
Meet Midori Takada + Wadada Leo Smith
Japanese percussionist Midori Takada left the world of classical music to explore ambient soundscapes and traditional Asian and African techniques. She is currently involved in several symphonic projects, including collaborations with Jakob Bro and free jazz legend Wadada Leo Smith, who has developed his own notation system and will embark on his final European tour in 2025. The two will be in conversation and invite the audience to join with questions and reflections.
The event takes place at Kolme on 12. November 15.30–17.30.
Registration required
The events are free and take place at Kolme. Seating is limited, so we recommend registering in advance (first come, first served). The talks are open to everyone, regardless of whether you have a ticket to the evening’s concerts.
Joe Lovano is a true Grammy-winning saxophonist, composer, and producer with an extensive résumé, having received numerous awards as a musician, bandleader, and multiple “Album of the Year” honors from DownBeat, JazzTimes, and the Jazz Journalists Association.

An annual festival for improvised music and a music collective rooted in the connections established through Jakob Bro’s collaborations with icons such as Paul Motian, Tomasz Stanko, Joe Lovano, and Palle Mikkelborg.
Loveland Music Festival takes place for the first time on November 10–12 at Bremen Teater, featuring artists such as Joe Lovano, Marcus Gilmore, Midori Takada, Wadada Leo Smith, and Danish names including Marilyn Mazur, Jesper Zeuthen, Maria Laurette Friis, AC, and more.
