The first edition of Danish Jazz in Numbers is out now

Today marks the release of the report Danish Jazz in Numbers 2025 – a comprehensive, data-driven insight into the Danish jazz scene.

At Jazz Danmark, we work purposefully to understand and strengthen jazz life in Denmark. A vital part of this work is collecting and analyzing data so we can track the trends, potentials, and challenges that are shaping the genre right now.

That is why we are proud to present Danish Jazz in Numbers 2025 – our first consolidated overview of Danish jazz across all our internal data sources, supplemented with several external ones. Here, you gain a holistic picture of the genre in Denmark:

  • Who are the artists?

  • Who are the audiences?

  • Where does the music take place?

  • How is it released and communicated?

  • And how does Danish jazz reach the world?

The report is only available in Danish.

A vibrant scene with both diversity and challenges

The numbers reveal the story of a vibrant and diverse jazz ecosystem. More music is being released than at any point in the past decade, new audience groups are finding their way to jazz, and the genre thrives both in traditional formats and in entirely new settings. At the same time, the report also highlights clear challenges – particularly within media exposure and gender balance.

The report builds on experience from the joint data collection carried out by the genre organizations and supplements earlier analyses in the Danish Music Life in Numbers series.

A guide for future work

Danish Jazz in Numbers 2025 has already played a role in the development of Jazz Danmark’s newly formulated strategy for 2026–2029. We hope the report can also serve as an important tool and point of reference for other stakeholders in the Danish jazz community who seek to understand and navigate a music landscape in transition.
