The Jazz+ industry day is ready with the program for 9 December

Jazz+ can now unveil the industry day’s programme, which offers both debates, presentations and immersion – all based on the universe of jazz.
Get inspiration, strengthen your network, discuss and gain new knowledge

This year, Jazz+ will be based on two main themes.

Theme 1 “The young people also have a say” will focus on youth involvement on, in front of and behind the stage.

Theme 2 “The Nordic jazz scene” will focus on the jazz scenes of Denmark, Sweden and Norway, and how we can inspire each other and strengthen cooperation across the countries. In addition, there will be two features respectively on jazzahead!, the world’s largest jazz fair, and on VEGA’s new concert format, Immersive Sound in VEGA.

Jazz+ takes place on Tuesday 9 December at 14-17 in Lille VEGA, Lyngsie Salen and VEGA Lounge. The industry day takes place in the hours before the Danish Music Awards Jazz in Store VEGA. It is free to participate in Jazz+, but registration is required. Jazz+ is for all jazz actors, whether you are a musician, jazz club, record label, volunteer, venue or simply want more knowledge about the industry and the opportunity to expand your network.

It is free to participate at Jazz+ but registration is mandatory.

PROGRAM FOR JAZZ+ 2024

LILLE VEGA

  • 14:00-14:15 – Welcome

After this, Lille VEGA’s concert hall will be an open workstation/meeting room for all participants at Jazz+.

LYNGSIE SALEN
Theme 1: The young people also has a say

  • 14:15-14:45
Cool job! But can I have it?
How do we get more young people on the field in the music industry – more young managers, labels, bookers etc. What barriers are there and what can we learn from their experiences?
  • 14:50-15:10
Immersive Sound – what and why?
Concert formats are developing rapidly on a global scale. VEGA’s new immersive sound system creates a sound curtain that gives the audience a richer and fuller concert experience. Come and hear more about the musical expressions that the new sound makes possible, and how it characterizes a concert experience.
  • 15:20-15:50
When was the last time you gave a young person a chance? Case presentation of the work of selected actors
4 actors talk about how they work with youth involvement in everyday life, and why it is important as a cultural institution to keep an eye on and include the next generation for a sustainable music scene.

VEGA LOUNGE
Theme 2: Den nordic jazz scene

  • 14:50-15:20
Do the Nordic music scenes have enough in themselves? What barriers are there to establishing strong ties across the Nordic jazz scenes? Join us for a conversation about how music can be a catalyst for the trans-Nordic community and how art can strengthen the Nordic identity. With relevant Danish and Nordic actors on the panel, we tackle current issues and find out what opportunities and barriers there are to establishing strong Nordic ties and what the future holds.
  • 15:25-15:45
Venue models in Denmark and the Nordics – can we get inspiration?
Jazzahead! The world’s largest jazz fair. What is it and why should you bring it?
Every spring, Bremen’s exhibition hall opens its doors to the world’s largest jazz fair, where more than 3,000 people meet about jazz. For 3 days, the German city is buzzing with jazz concerts, meetings and networking, but what can you as an actor or performing artist expect from participating in the fair, and what have previous participants gained from being there? Hear more about jazzahead!, and why you should come along.
  • 16:00-16:30
Venue models in Denmark and the Nordics – can we get inspiration?
National stage, membership, municipally owned or regional venue. There are many models for how a modern venue is structured. Even so, several venues are experiencing challenges with ticket sales, rising prices, a drop in volunteers, etc. What does the venue model look like at some of the Nordics’ big venues, and can we get inspiration from each other?
  • 16:30-17:00 – Free networking in Lille VEGA’s concert hall
