Apply

Everyone can apply

The National Transport Aid supports professional orchestras across all genres. Jazz Danmark administers the scheme on behalf of all genre organizations and in agreement with the Danish Arts Foundation.

What are the requirements for applicants?

All bands, regardless of genre, can apply to the fund, but there are specific criteria for receiving support. Performances must include payment according to standard rates, be publicly accessible, charge admission, and the music performed must primarily consist of original compositions. If your orchestra meets these requirements and you apply within the deadlines, you are guaranteed a subsidy. This differs from the Jazz Fund and the International Transport Fund, where committees must prioritize applications due to limited resources.

When can I apply?

Applications for The National Transport Aid are submitted in the month following your concert(s). Specifically, the application period runs from the 1st to the 15th of the following month. For example, if you performed in February, your application must be submitted between March 1 and March 15.

How do I apply?

You can find more information about the scheme and submit your application here (this page is in Danish). The site also outlines all requirements and rates. We recommend checking regularly, as deadlines, guidelines, and other details may change.

Where does the funding come from?

Funding for The National Transport Aid comes from the Ministry of Culture’s current Music Action Plan, amounting to DKK 4.5 million annually. Jazz Danmark administers the scheme in agreement with the Danish Arts Foundation.

Legal Basis

The decision is made under the Danish Act on Music, cf. Consolidated Act No. 32 of January 14, 2014, §3, No. 8, and Act No. 458 of May 8, 2013, on the Danish Arts Foundation, §3, subsection 1.

Annotation No. 208 to §21.21.01 of the 2020 Finance Act authorizes the Danish Arts Foundation to delegate the management of selected funds for music and performing arts to genre organizations (ROSA, Tempi, Jazz Danmark, and Art Music Denmark) as well as the association Turneteater.dk. This delegation includes decision-making authority and the disbursement of funds. Therefore, Jazz Danmark, on behalf of the Danish Arts Foundation, makes the decisions regarding this fund.

A report on The National Transport Aid is available in Jazz Danmark’s Annual Report.
